Phoenix Groups

From Sept 2022 – August 2023, in addition to our home-ed groups and holiday club, Rama Life ran two core community groups – one for families with young people of all ages and one specifically for families with toddlers.  They ran from the greenfield site we were using and in later Spring 2023, the groups were merged to increase community connection.

Groups enjoyed outdoor and sensory play, construction, toys, table tennis and pool!

Community Transport

Rama Life opperated a 17 seater ‘lightweight’ minibus that could be hired by not-for-profit organisations only, for trips & events from July 2021 – June 2024 and transported around 3000 people and in the South Somerset area.

The programme was closed due to a number of factors, many connected to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, including a reduction in adult volunteer drivers and increase in the level of need in our core business, connected to the mental health crisis in schools.

Community Event Hula Fest Barrington Fete 2021

Hula Fest

Saturday 21st August 2021
Barrington Village Hall and Playing Fields, Barrington, Somerset, TA19 0JE
Cost: £2 per person (under 12’s Free) – Minibus shuttle available from car park.

From 2020-2021, Rama Life based it’s term-time provision from its own premises, above Barrington Village Hall.  Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the village had been unable to have it’s usual fete in 2020 and did not have the time to arrange one for 2021.  Rama Life stepped in and in a very short space of time, organised and ran a fantastic summer event called “Hula Fest”.

In true Rama Life style, our young people helped to plan the event and decided on the  Hawaiian theme – to bring some brightness and fun to the day.  The event was very well attended and included traditional fete games, craft stalls, a raffle, hot food and circus skills.  In the evening we had fabulous live music in a big marquee outdoors.

Hula Fest raised funds for Barrington Village Hall, Rama Life and Young Minds (Mental Health Charity for Young People).

Residentials

Rama Life sometimes provide residential activities for young people.

Summer 2021: A group of young people aged 10-16 enjoyed a fabulous weekend at Pinkery on Exmoor.  Activities included tree climbing, archery, low ropes course and wide games.

Spring 2022: a group of young people aged 12-15 travelled to Shropshire for a fantastic trip to PGL.  Activities included canoeing, archery, shooting, high-ropes and Giant Swing.  We also took a visit to a National Trust property.
