English GCSE Thursday 10:30am – 12:15am | 14 – 17 Yrs (under 14yrs by agreement)
All subject tuition is £13 per group, per week for 1 hr 15 minutes plus set home learning for those who wish to do it.
Rama Life offer a range of maths and English groups at different levels in order to support many young people as possible. Whilst the group sizes are up to 15, we usually have 3 members of staff in the group, so the support ratio is 1:5.
All of our Maths and English tuition groups are designed for building skills, confidence and knowledge. If you wish to take an external examination, you need to supplement what we provide with home study and revision – especially in the case of GCSE, which requires a substantial level of commitment at home, in order to ensure readiness for the exam.
Our Monday group is designed for young people who are new to the subjects or have gaps in their knowledge – or those lacking in confidence or with anxiety around learning in a group. We go back to basics and build a sound foundation in the subjects, adjusting our explanations of different concepts to meet the needs of the individual learner. You people can attend this group for multiple years, until they have the confidence and knowledge to progress.
Tuesdays follows the Functional Skills Level 1/2 programmes and is an excellent group for building skills if you already have a solid foundation. Young people often attend for multiple years and build on their understanding and knowledge. Some will just attend to improve their skills; some will choose to externally access the Functional Skills exams and others will progress to GCSE tuition.
Thursday’s group works through the GCSE syllabus (Edexcel for Maths Foundation level, AQA for English) and provides the opportunity for young people to understand the concepts and skills required. We teach in a accessible way and often get told that young people do not feel like they are ‘learning’ because it is enjoyable! If your young person wants to sit the exam please speak to a member of the team as you will need to ensure a high level of commitment and home study to ensure everything is covered and revised.
Our groups have a positive and supportive atmosphere and young people are encouraged to be brave and get comfortable with getting things “wrong” – which is a very effective way of learning. We use problem solving challenges, games and real life examples to make learning accessible and enjoyable. Young people are encouraged to read (if studying English) in as many forms as they can! Magazines, instruction manuals, novels, fact books, online research and recipe books are all options!

Creative Arts
Monday 1pm – 3pm | 11 – 17 Yrs
£16 Per week
Our Creative Arts is the perfect decompression session. Young people will be introduced to different materials and artists and have the change to work on existing skills and develop new ones relating to art, crafting and other forms of creative expression. In addition to practical activities, young people will have the opportunity to develop their Art History knoweldge and to learn about the ‘stories’ behind well-known (and lesser well-known) pieces of art. This group will also have the opportunity to engage in other styles of ‘art’ including poetry, music and performance. This is all “opt in” so young people can choose how they get involved – it could be as part of what is happening, or by designing props. This group is a perfect confidence builder and a great way to try out different ways to be artistic.
No previous experience or “skill level” needed – this is an open access group that encourages creative expression in a non-critical, non-judgemental and un-competitive environment.
In addition to Art History, storytelling and discussion – young people will undertake hands on application of the “arts” every week. This will mostly take the form of art and craft projects using a variety of materials including fabric, clay, paint, chalk, charcoal, ink and pencil. We will initially have different activities each week and then have the option to build on bigger projects over time. Poetry, movement and drama will be available at certain times for those who would like to take part (not compulsory!) and we aim to set up the Arts Award scheme in the future.

Business Enterprise
Tuesday 1pm – 3pm | 11 – 17 Yrs
£16 Per week
Business enterprise offers young people the opportunity to learn about and develop fundamental skills for starting and running a successful business. Each session will also include core skill activities from areas such teamwork and communication.
From February – July 2025, young people will be undertaking an enterprise project from start to finish which will include a budget for them to generate some income from. They will cover the essentials (including planning, research, marketing, production and finance) and see the process unfold, including things to look out for, essential reflection and challenges. We will be joined by inspiring visitors who will share their skills and knowledge. You can join at any time in the year (subject to space) and will be welcomed into the team.
From September 2025 we will begin our new business programme which will look at every aspect of running a business in depth with lots of hands-on activities and the chance to put concepts into practice. To build an understanding of how businesses work and what is involved in running one. All the key topics will be covered in an interesting and engaging way with visitors from industry to share their knowledge and experience. There will also be various enterprise projects at various points through the year, with the opportunity to do quick start-ups and ongoing ventures.
Rama Life’s founder and award-winning entrepreneur, Jenn, is involved in the planning of this group and will be popping in at various points to answer questions and see how everyone is getting on!

Level Up for Life
Thursday 1pm – 3pm | 11 – 17 Yrs
£16 Per week
Our Level Up for Life programme is everything a teenager needs to be more engaged and involved in their own journey and to help them build essential skills for the future. Our sessions offer a combination of theoretical and practical skills in addition to personal development, helping them understand more about who they are, their skills and their values, helping young people figure out next steps that will work well for them.
Theoretical skills are delivered in an engaging and enjoyable way and include topics such as Personal Finances, Employment, Further and Higher Education, Government and Politics, Transport and Wellbeing.
Practical skills are hands-on and include first-aid, cooking, cleaning, ironing, tying a tie, sewing and fixing a bike puncture!
All the skills we cover are highly relevant and useful. They enable young people to understand what goes into running a “home”, how to transition from home education to a Further Education College and what University is like (and how much it costs!) and how to make a great impression in an interview.
We have inspiring visitors come into the group to encourage, motivate and to answer questions – in February 2025, they were visited by a Chef who taught them to make different canape!
This is truly an essential group to help “Level Up” and hit the ground running into young adulthood.
